Nokia Asha


Nokia World has now begun and in no time we have new phones to write about. It's the new Asha series of feature phones - 200, 201, 300, 303. All of these devices are running on Series 40. Asha comes from Hindi and means something along the line of hope.
The 200 and 201 look very much alike to the Nokia C3 and have been equipped with what Nokia claims to be their most powerful loudspeaker yet. The 200 is a dual-SIM device, while the 201 is a single-SIM one. Both devices offer QWERTY keyboards and Nokia have incorporated the popular WhatsApp messenger into Series 40. Both devices will also have up to 32GB on-board storage.

Next comes the Asha 303, a 1GHz phone with a 2.6" capacitive touchscreen and a keyboard combo. It looks a lot like the Nokia X3-02 touch'n'type. It also offers a 5MP camera on the back. It will Nokia's cloud-based browser that compresses web content up to 90% to reduce data consumption.

The Asha 300 also offers a 1GHz processor and 3G connectivity and it a touchscreen devices. It will feature a 5MP camera. It will not be a dual-SIM device.

Apart from WhatsApp messenger support S40 will also get the Angry Birds treatment.
The Nokia Asha 200 is expected to cost around 60 EUR without taxes and subsidies and will begin shipping in Q4 of 2011. The 201 will cost the same but will start shipping in Q1 of 2012. The 303 will be around 115 EUR and will start shipping in Q4 of 2011, while the Asha 300 will set you back 85 EUR and will ship again in Q4 of 2011.
